Ashwin Chona’s bid for a fourth consecutive no-hitter ended Thursday.
Chona, a sophomore left-hander at Sage Hill, gave up two hits in a 10-0 win over Brethren Christian. The game was stopped at the end of the fifth inning because of the mercy rule.
It was not a sad moment for Chona. Not at all.
“I looked at Super and we started laughing,” Chona said.
That would be Brett Super, a senior right-handed pitcher for Sage Hill. They have a friendly no-hitter rivalry going. Super has thrown no-hitters in his past two starts, including one against Brethren Christian on Tuesday.
