BROOKLYN – The Lakers overcame poor shooting and late miscues Friday to beat the Brooklyn Nets 104-98 and earn their first win of the season.
What, you thought a matchup between two winless teams would be pretty?
It was a clumsy, uneven performance by the Lakers, who trailed by as many as 11 points in the first quarter. However, behind a breakout shooting night from D’Angelo Russell (6-of-9, 16 points) the Lakers pulled away in the second half, at one point taking a double-digit advantage of their own.
However, the Lakers are not yet polished enough to close out games without incident.
