LOS ANGELES – The boos came mid-way through the third quarter. They started off somewhat scattered, but grew into a raucous chorus as the Lakers fell further and further behind the Charlotte Hornets in a 101-82 loss.
With the Lakers in the process of matching the longest losing streak in franchise history, fed-up fans locked onto an unlikely player.
Ryan Kelly.
The mild-mannered power forward was playing in just his 19th game of the season and has averaged a modest 7 points and 3.4 rebounds in three seasons with the Lakers.
He became the symbol, however, of the Lakers frustration during a 13-0 run by Charlotte in which the Hornets lead grew from 11 to 24 in more than five minutes of action.
