When DeMarcus Cousins suffered a torn ACL during the 2019 NBA offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers signed Dwight Howard, which was a controversial move.
After leaving the Lakers in 2013 NBA free agency, Howard played for four different teams in six seasons and was recovering from spinal surgery at 33 years old.
