Clippers rivalry with Warriors is the real thing

Brent Barry grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and played the first 2 1/2 seasons of his 14-year NBA career for the Clippers, who were awful back then in the mid-1990s. As were the Golden State Warriors.

The teams are now two of the NBA’s best, and their dislike for one another keeps growing. It has become a rivalry, something Barry could not have envisioned 20 years ago.

“This was never really (something) I could say that I thought was going to be maybe feasible in my lifetime, that the Clippers and Warriors would have a rivalry that actually meant something, with two teams that are competitive and winning a lot of games, that have a lot of dynamic players and top players in the league on both rosters,” Barry, now a television analyst, said Tuesday during a TNT/NBA TV conference call.
