Despite a mutual interest between Jordan Clarkson and the Philippines National Team, the Lakers guard will not play for his country of heritage in the upcoming FIBA Asia Championship.
Clarkson, whose mother is from the Philippines, took two separate trips to the country this summer and even attended practice for the national squad. But on Tuesday the Philippine Basketball Association announced its 12-man roster for the tournament, which did not include Clarkson.
According to a statement by the PBA, the national team — Gilas Pilipinas — was unable to meet the deadline for the Asia Championship, which begins in two weeks.
