The Los Angeles Lakers, along with the rest of the NBA, are gearing up for a return to play at the end of July. The NBA is considering expanding roster spots for teams before the season restarts in Orlando, and if that is the case, the Lakers could consider adding a former Laker in Demarcus Cousins. Cousins rehabbed with the Lakers after his string of injuries and being waived by Los Angeles, but he may be ready to go if the Lakers are looking to make a playoff push. Another veteran the Lakers could look to add is JR Smith, who worked out for the Lakers earlier in the season before they signed Dion Waiters.

Gerald Green is another veteran wing the Los Angeles Lakers could look at as a possible late-season addition. Gerald Green has missed the entire 2019-20 NBA season with a broken left foot. Green was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Denver Nuggets around the NBA trade deadline, but since he was still nursing his broken foot, the Nuggets quickly waived him, making him an unrestricted free agent. With this time off, Green could be ready to go and could help out a playoff team in the need of an athletic wing.

Two players that have been in the G-League that could help the Los Angeles Lakers right about now are Justin Anderson and Dakota Mathias. Justin Anderson was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks a few years back and had a couple standout seasons with them before being traded to Philadelphia. He has since been dominating in the G-League, especially this season with the Long Island Nets. Dakota Mathias had an outstanding college career at Purdue. He had a training camp invite from the Dallas Mavericks this past season and has since been playing for the Mavericks’ G-League team, the Texas Legends. His three-point shooting and on-ball defense are the most valuable parts of his young game.
