The Los Angeles Lakers stood pat at the trade deadline this year despite multiple trade rumors floating around. They will now turn their attention to the buyout market with multiple names set to hit the market. The name that has been mentioned the most recently is Dion Waiters, who was just waived by the Memphis Grizzlies after being involved in the Andre Iguodala deal. Dion Waiters can still score in bunches and can come off the bench and make an immediate impact. Dion Waiters has had multiple question marks pop up in his career regarding his character, but if the Lakers can get past that, they might sign him to be a sixth man for them this year.

Darren Collison was thrown around for multiple weeks as a potential target for both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers. Collison has now made it clear that he will not return to the NBA this year as the timing is just not right. Darren Collison could have been a valuable member of the Los Angeles Lakers as another playmaker and a reliable three-point scorer.

With Collison not coming back, another name has hit the open market that could make sense for the Lakers in Tyler Johnson. Johnson was traded to the Phoenix Suns this past summer, but he is playing a career-low in minutes and has now been waived. He will hit the buyout market with multiple suitors expected to go after him. He is only 26 years old and can still be a decent playmaker off the bench. The biggest problem for Tyler Johnson was his overpaid contract, but as a player on a veteran’s minimum deal, he could be a bargain.
Reggie Jackson is currently discussing a buyout with the Detroit Pistons. Although nothing is official, he could make a lot of sense for the Los Angeles Lakers. Jackson would immediately be the best-available player if he is bought out and could easily start at the point guard position for the Lakers. Jackson has been good for the Pistons when healthy, but the Detroit Pistons are looking to compete for a lottery spot rather than a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference after they opted to trade away Andre Drummond to the Cleveland Cavaliers for scraps.
