The Los Angeles Lakers have been quiet so far in NBA Free Agency, but they might not be for much longer. The Lakers are discussing a contract with PG George Hill.
Free agent George Hill and reps are meeting with the Lakers today in Los Angeles, discussing a one-year deal, league sources tell ESPN.

The Lakers are trying to avoid signing players to deals longer than one year to keep their 2018 cap space free. The Lakers want to leave room for Paul George and potentially another max-contract free agent.
Hill has had interest from the Knicks and Nuggets. The Jazz wanted to keep him, but worried he would be too expensive, so they traded for Ricky Rubio.

Hill missed time last year, but still put a career-high 16.9 points per game. He also provided solid defense and shot over 40 percent from 3-point range. He can provide some veteran leadership, mentor Lonzo Ball and play off-ball if needed.
