We are 21 games into the lakers season and the Lakers are 9-12 and find themselves in 12th place in the Western Conference. If you had asked Lakers fans this summer whether they would believe this, they would have surely laughed in your face.
Unfortunately after a coaching change and much finger pointing the Lakers do not seem to be getting any better. So after this summers fiesta of blockbuster signings in LA does something need to change?
All season long, people have been calling for Pau Gasol to either be traded or demoted. And it looks like Lakers critics will continue to be ignored.

In a recent interview with head coach Mike D'Antoni done by ESPNLosAngeles.com he said, "I'm not going to mess with Pau. He's too important to the team and he's earned it and he's too good of a player to even go there. That would be a last resort kind of desperate (move)."
Thiss will be a big disappointment as many were hoping for a shakeup in LA. So for those looking for an earth shattering move by the Lakers to spark some life into this team, benching Paul Gasol does not seem to be in the playbook.
