The Brooklyn Nets are desperate to get Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic and Sunday came news that Cleveland is being recruited to take on Kris Humphries salary for this upcoming season.
The Magic, according to Chris Broussard and Brian Windhorst, basically only want center Brook Lopez and as many future draft picks as possible. That's why Brooklyn and Orlando are looking for teams that can take on Humphries' new salary either from cap room or trade exceptions.
MarShon Brooks could also be part of the trade and he could join Humphries as the Magic reportedly don't want him on their roster.
Broussard and Windhorst report the Nets and Magic are having difficulty getting help as many teams don't want the Nets to become a superpower, like Miami and the Lakers.
"You can talk about the new (luxury) tax all you want, but if the Lakers get Steve Nash and the Nets get Howard, then what did the new CBA accomplish?" said one general manager. "You have to realize part of long-term planning is making sure you don't help create teams you can't beat."
UPDATE: According to Jarrod Rudolph of RealGM, the three-team trade proposal could include cash, multiple picks and 11 players.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports thinks as many as 14 players could end up being in a deal and a fourth team brought in to take MarShon Brooks and give back a future pick.
A potential problem with all this, per Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, is that Nets' free agent Kris Humphries "would seek 4 yr deal with CLE and wouldn't sign 1yr pact. ..."
The Cavaliers already have 2011 lottery pick Tristan Thompson to man the power forward spot for years to come, and likely wouldn't be interested in committing to Humphries for so many years.
