Six members of the Los Angeles Lakers' current active roster are slated to hit free agency this summer, including forward Wesley Johnson.
While it's likely that the Lakers will have a much different look in 2015-16 with plenty of cap space to work with come July, Johnson hopes that he's one of the players who can stick around for the next stage of the Lakers' rebuilding efforts.
“I want to definitely stay here,” said Johnson in regards to his pending free agency, via Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News. “I like coach Scott and the whole coaching staff. I love it here. I definitely want to be a part of when they get back.”
The former lottery pick is posting career highs in a few different statistical categories including points per game (9.5) and minutes per game (28), but his chances to return to Los Angeles could be slim to note with the Lakers likely to aggressively pursue small forward upgrades in free agency.
