In Lakers news tonight, despite numerous reports that the Los Angeles Lakers want head coach Mike D'Antoni back for the 2014-15 NBA season, it seems the team doesn't want to extend their commitment any further than that.
According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, D'Antoni is still pushing for an extra year of security, and the Lakers are still pushing back --

It seemed unlikely at the end of the Los Angeles Lakers' dismal 2013-14 season that the team would ask embattled head coach Mike D'Antoni to return. However, D'Antoni oversaw a roster besieged by injuries -- a situation which may have prompted the Los Angeles Lakers' front office to give him one more shot.
However, if D'Antoni remains stubborn in his assertion that he doesn't want to come into 2014-15 as a potential lame duck coach, the Lakers may decide to go in a different direction after all rather than bringing the oft-maligned coach back for another season.
