The Los Angeles Lakers have suffered a big blow with just under a month until the 2014-15 NBA season, as Nick Young will be sidelined for around 2 months with a thumb injury.
Here's Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times with the bad news:
Nick Young has a torn ligament in his right thumb and will miss about eight weeks, The Times has learned. Bad start for the Lakers.

Per Mike Trudell of Lakers.com, Young will go in for surgery on Monday after what was initially termed as a sprain of his shooting thumb after a Thursday practice:
The MRI on Nick Young revealed a complete tear of the radial collateral ligament of his right (shooting) thumb. Surgery is set for Monday.

After the Lakers lost 319 man games due to injury last season, losing Young right off the bat is not a good omen for a team that finally seemed to be healthy.
Chat Sports will have more on Young's injury as additional information is made available.
