The Kings’ offense fared just fine without Jeff Carter Monday night in their 5-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena.
It was quite the night for the Kings; Derek Forbort scoring his first-career NHL goal, Tyler Toffoli netting his second-career NHL hat-trick, and Jonathan Quick posting his 40th-career NHL shutout – tying him with John Vanbiesbrouck and Frank Brimsek for the most all-time amongst US born goalies.
A total of 34 penalty minutes were assessed in a chippy opening period, including four fighting majors and five roughing infractions.
