NHL Rumors: Penguins To Keep Things Internal and Doughty Uses Maple Leafs

Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The Pittsburgh Penguins have lost defenseman Justin Schultz for four months after he had surgery on his fractured lower left let. Penguins GM Jim Rutherford doesn’t plan on filling the hole externally.

“We’ll deal with it from within,” Rutherford told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Monday afternoon. “It won’t be any different than anything else.”

This doesn’t mean that things can’t change in the future if things don’t go as planned.

“If our team doesn’t play as well as we’d like, then we have to consider other options,” Rutherford said.
