Marian Gaborik could miss eight weeks after World Cup injury, Kings' GM says

Kings forward Marian Gaborik sustained a leg or foot injury Sunday during Team Europe’s semifinal victory over Sweden in the World Cup of Hockey, and was being examined Monday in Toronto to determine the extent of his injuries.

Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi said via email that Gaborik will be out long-term. "Bad. Eight weeks," Lombardi said.

Team Europe Coach Ralph Krueger, asked Monday about reports that Gaborik had left the Air Canada Centre on crutches, said Gaborik has a lower-body injury “that we’re still managing.” He said an assessment of Gaborik’s status would be made once the Slovakian winger undergoes an examination.
