As mentioned earlier on in the summer, the Los Angeles Kings are in the midst of contract talks with their star center, Anze Kopitar. This coming season will be the final year of his 7 year, $7 million contract. If the Kings don’t sign him, he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2016.
Sources are saying the Kings and Kopitar aren’t close in their talks of a new contract. This is a little bit alarming, but nothing any Kings fans should be freaking out about right now. There’s plenty of time to work out a new deal, but it does sound like the distance between the two parties is quite large.
