According to several reports, former LA Kings forward Ilya Kovalchuk has signed with Avangard Omsk of the KHL, ending his NHL tenure again.
When the LA Kings inked Ilya Kovalchuk to a three-year deal in June 2018, it was one of the most puzzling signings, especially given where the organization was in terms of the rebuild. While general manager Rob Blake was trading away veteran players from the Stanley Cup runs, he brought in a 35-year-old winger whose last NHL game came against the Kings in Game 6 of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals.
