Former Los Angeles Kings centre Colin Fraser announced his retirement from professional hockey on Wednesday, as announced by the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers of the German Elite League.
Fraser, 30, spent nine years in the NHL, winning three Stanley Cup championships, two of which came with the Kings (2012, 2014), while his first came in 2010 as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.
His decision to retire was entirely his own, hanging up the skates on his terms rather than being forced to call it quits due to the physical toll the sport can take on one’s body.
