As initially speculated yesterday by Eliotte Friedman, the Kings have traded Carl Hagelin to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a third round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft and a conditional sixth round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. No word yet on what those conditions are, but they typically have to do with either how many games the player dresses for, or how far the acquiring team goes in the post-season.
Additionally, Pierre LeBrun reported that the Kings are retaining 50% of Hagelin’s salary and cap hit for the remainder of the season.
