Everyone had settled into a tight 3-2 game at Staples Center between the Flames and the Kings after two periods. But then, in search of their 50th win, Calgary flipped the switch, scoring four goals in a span of 8:45 and cruised to a 7-2 win.
Derek Ryan scored twice and Mark Jankowski had a goal and two assists. Sam Bennett, Johnny Gaudreau, James Neal and Andrew Mangiapane also scored for the Flames, who reached the 50-win mark for the second time in franchise history.
