In November 2016, U.S. Soccer named longtime LA Galaxy General Manager and Head Coach Bruce Arena the next Head Coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team, setting in motion the Galaxy’s first head coaching search in over eight years.
After hiring former Vice President of Soccer Operations Pete Vagenas to fill the General Manager role, the Galaxy again looked within the club and named LA Galaxy II Head Coach Curt Onalfo as Arena’s successor in December.
In his time with LA Galaxy II, Onalfo had become known for his successful development of LA Galaxy II and Galaxy Academy players into first-team talent.
