CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard made the dreams of a young child from Liverpool stricken with leukemia come true prior to Sunday’s match with Seattle Sounders FC.
Charlie Fearns, 10, traveled to Seattle after more than $200,000 dollars were raised to send the child to receive a potentially lifesaving treatment in the Pacific Northwest that is unavailable in the United Kingdom.
Prior to the game on Sunday, the lifelong Liverpool FC fan and his brother Harrison were able to meet Gerrard, who personally donated more than $33,000 dollars to the child’s fund. The Fearns boys were also able to serve as Galaxy mascots and participate in the pregame match photo.
