The LA Galaxy announced Wednesday they have signed Yony Gonzalez on loan from Portuguese club Benfica using Targeted Allocation Money.
The 26-year-old has not yet played for Benfica, where he signed in January, and had been on loan at Brazilian club Corinthians before the loan to the Galaxy. Previously, the Colombian has played in Brazil for Fluminense, and in his native country for Junior and Envigado.
A winger, Gonzalez has shown a knack for scoring from a wide position, something LA could very much use.
“Yony is a dynamic playmaker who we believe can strengthen our attack this year,” said general manager Dennis te Kloese in a team statement.
