LA Galaxy and Guatemala legend Carlos Ruiz announces retirement from international soccer | INSIDER

LA Galaxy legend Carlos Ruiz will end his storied international career on Tuesday night.

Ruiz will play his final game for Guatemala when they host St. Vincent and the Grenadines in CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying. With the retirement of Robbie Keane from the Republic of the Ireland, the 36-year-old became the leading active goal scorer in international soccer with 63 career goals during his 18-year international career for Guatemala. Ruiz will end his time with Guatemala with 132 appearances.

Guatemala head into the match with a slim chance to qualify for the final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying, but will need to overturn a 12-goal deficit and hope the United States loses to Trinidad and Tobago.
