U.S. Soccer announced Monday that goalkeeper Jonathan Klinsmann has been diagnosed with a concussion in the U.S. U-23 Men’s National Team’s training camp in Mexico and has returned back to the LA Galaxy.
Klinsmann has been replaced by Inter Miami GK Drake Callender. What this means for Klinsmann’s prospects of making the final U.S. U-23 roster for Concacaf Olympic qualifying, which begins in 10 days, is uncertain, although it’s probably not helpful.
Still, head coach Jason Kreis will call up three goalkeepers for his roster for the qualifying tournament, so there’s a chance Klinsmann could be recalled if he is recovered from his head injury.
