LOS ANGELES – The LA Galaxy’s pursuit of Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez wasn’t a lengthy one like others in the past, but, it was the right moment for both parties to come together to bring Hernandez to the club.
Los Angeles announced the signing of the all-time leading Mexican goal scorer to a Designated Player contract on Tuesday morning. The 31-year-old joins the Galaxy following stints at Chivas de Guadalajara, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham, and most lately, Sevilla.
Tuesday’s deal ends a rapid courtship that began in earnest earlier this month with a simple text by Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese to Hernandez’s agent.
