CARSON, Calif. (Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016) – LA Galaxy forward Giovani dos Santos was recognized with the MLS Player of the Year Award at the third edition of the Premios Univision Deportes (Univision Sports Awards), which aired nationally on Sunday night, on the Univision Network and UDN. Dos Santos joined the show in Miami as the most nominated athlete with three nominations.
The two-hour presentation honored sports figures for their accomplishments on and off the field of play, and across soccer, basketball, baseball, football, boxing, auto racing, extreme sports, tennis and gymnastics, among other sports.
Dos Santos, 27, in his second season with the Galaxy, tallied 14 goals and 12 assists in 28 MLS Regular Season appearances, with 27 starts, two game-winning goals and two game-winning assists.
