CARSON, Calif. -- Former LA Galaxy captain Robbie Keane was named "International Person of the Year" at RTE's Person of the Year awards last weekend.
Keane was honored after ending his 18-year international career with the Republic of Ireland after the nation's impressive run at Euro 2016. He was presented with the award by former One Direction star Niall Horan from his Los Angeles home. The 36-year-old forward departed the Galaxy after a remarkable five years with the club that saw him win three MLS Cup titles, one MLS Most Valuable Player award and score over 100 goals with the team.
