David Beckham is one step closer to bringing MLS to Miami.
The former LA Galaxy midfielder and his partners announced on Thursday that have secured two parcels of land in the Downtown Miami community of Overtown. Beckham's group will now need to purchase land from Miami-Dade County, and also secure zoning permits from the city.
“We have the right site, the right ownership group, and a loyal base of fans counting down the days until are first match,” Beckham ownership partner Marcelo Claure said in a statement. “We’re all-in on Overtown, and we couldn’t be more excited about moving forward with plans to deliver the most responsible stadium in Miami history.
