CARSON, Calif. -- LA Galaxy legend Robbie Keane was named to the Republic of Ireland soccer federation's Hall of Fame at Sunday's FAI Awards in Dublin.
Keane was the only inductee to the 2017 FAI Hall of Fame class after ending his remarkable career for the Irish national team last year. The former Galaxy captain played for 18-years for the Irish, making 145 appearances for his country and finishing his international career as Ireland’s all-time leading goal scorer with 67 career goals.
The long-time captain for the Irish, Keane led his nation to three major international competitions, appearing at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the European Championships in 2012 and 2016.
