The transfer of Bologna center back Giancarlo Gonzalez to the LA Galaxy has more or less been agreed upon, albeit informally. The Costa Rican’s Serie A club signed off on the move and Gonzalez has approved personal terms.
I’ve been told the .@LAGalaxy are “moving in a positive direction” in their efforts to add Costa Rican defender Giancarlo Gonzalez but deal is unlikely to be done this week

What’s been holding up the deal (now confirmed by Sam Stejskal) is a player acquisition mechanism: The Galaxy are 11th in the allocation order, meaning they would have to trade up to acquire the slot needed to bring the former Columbus Crew defender to MLS.
