Who knew? LA Dodgers' Tommy Lasorda is a big supporter of local control for Ontario airport

ONTARIO >> Tommy Lasorda, former manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, was in town Wednesday to sing the praises of a newly independent Ontario International Airport.

On Tuesday, Los Angeles Worlds Airports handed off control of L.A./Ontario International Airport to local leaders, who promptly ditched the “L.A.” part of the name.

But even though Lasorda has been a big part of a Los Angeles institution himself, that didn’t stop him for cheering an Inland Empire brand of management. He joined L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, Michael Huerta, head of the Federal Aviation Administration and local dignitaries Wednesday to commemorate the transfer to local control.
