The Dodgers should have a new-looking starting rotation in August. With Clayton Kershaw returning from the IL and the new acquisition of Lance Lynn, the club wouldn’t need to start Emmet Sheehan, and/or Michael Grove.
Since the middle of May, injuries have forced the Dodgers to rely on three rookies in the rotation. While Bobby Miller, Sheehan, and Gavin Stone/Grove have glimpses of brilliance, they need more time in AAA. Unless Ryan Pepiot, who is currently on a minor league rehab assignment as he returns from a strained oblique that has cost him most of the season, comes to the major leagues, the Dodgers will need either Miller or Sheehan to be the fifth starter.
