LOS ANGELES -- Don Mattingly has written in his most unusual lineup of the season tonight.
Rookie Austin Barnes is leading off and starting at second base, where he hasn't played in a year. Chase Utley is starting at first base, where he has played no more than times a season for the last decade. Only one man, catcher A.J. Ellis, was on the postseason roster from a year ago.
It all stemmed from last night's 16-inning loss that extended into this morning. Mattingly was determined to leave veterans Adrian Gonzalez and Justin Turner on the bench.
