LOS ANGELES -- It is now official. On Friday, the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously, 12 votes to zero, to rename Elysian Park Avenue. Now, the road from Sunset Blvd to Stadium Way to get to Dodger Stadium will be named Vin Scully Avenue.
The motion was introduced by councilman Gil Cedillo, but the line of the day may have come from fellow councilman Paul Koretz, who didn't think a street was enough to honor Scully.
"I'd be okay if we named the whole damn city after him," Koretz said at City Hall.
Cedillo said the process to change the street name will take 30 days, which means Vin Scully Avenue will be in place well before the regular season starts, per J.
