SAN DIEGO -- Veteran right-hander Scott Baker will be promoted from Triple-A Oklahoma City and start for the Dodgers on Sunday in San Diego, according to team sources.
Baker is being used for a spot start in order to allow the Dodgers to give the rest of their starting rotation extra rest heading into a busy May. After an off day Thursday, the Dodgers will play on 17 consecutive days and have only two off days in May.
In his most recent start for the OKC Dodgers, Baker came within one pitch of a seven-inning perfect game (in the first game of a doubleheader) on Monday.
