CHICAGO -- Chase Utley's activation by the Dodgers was pushed back until Friday in the wake of bullpen usage during Tuesday's doubleheader, manager Dave Roberts said on Wednesday.
Utley, placed on the DL May 30 with a left thumb sprain, is healthy but has remained idle because of roster constraints. His activation will require a corresponding move, perhaps involving catcher Kyle Farmer.
"With where we're at with the pitching, he's healthy and ready to go, but having some optionable players on the roster makes sense for us," said Roberts.
