In the days leading up to the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres, it was one of the quieter players on the Los Angeles Dodgers roster who spoke up.
Before Game 1 on Saturday, soft-spoken veteran Chris Taylor reminded his teammates during a hitters’ meeting that this series would be all about intensity.
“Every time we play these guys,” Taylor said of the San Diego Padres, “they always have high intensity and a lot of energy.” So, he told his teammates: “We need to match that.”
After three games, the Dodgers bats were still not where they needed to be.
