LOS ANGELES — The Chris Heston era in Los Angeles lasted less than two weeks. The pitcher was claimed off waivers on Wednesday from the Dodgers by the Twins, who called him up to their big league roster in Seattle.
Heston was scheduled to start the second game of Triple-A Oklahoma City’s doubleheader in Iowa on Wednesday night, but plans changed.
The Dodgers claimed Heston and infielder Mike Freeman off waivers from the Mariners on May 26, and optioned both to Triple-A. Freeman nearly got called up to the big club, even making the trip to Los Angeles on Monday just in case Franklin Gutierrez wasn’t healthy, but ultimately Freeman wasn’t needed and was essentially the taxi squad for a day.
