LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner broke a 60-year-old franchise record in Game 5 of the National League Championship Series on Thursday, when he reached safely in a 15th consecutive postseason game.
Turner's single in the third inning off Cubs left-hander Jon Lester snapped Turner's tie with former Dodgers right fielder Carl Furillo, who reached safely in 14 straight postseason games from 1953-56, when the team was still in Brooklyn.
Turner's hit did not produce a run. He stole second base, but Lester struck out Corey Seager before pumping his fist emphatically and leaving the mound.
