Trayce Thompson & Hyun-jin Ryu on the comeback trail

LOS ANGELES — Neither Trayce Thompson nor Hyun-jin Ryu are expected to make the Dodgers’ playoff roster. But that hasn’t stopped their comeback efforts.

Ryu will throw 25 pitches in a simulated game on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium, his first mound action since July 7, his only major league start in 2016.

The left-hander made the long comeback after missing a year and a half following surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, and he’s currently on the disabled list with left elbow tendonitis.

Manager Dave Roberts explained the reasoning behind Tuesday’s simulated game.
