LOS ANGELES -- Right-hander Carlos Frias was placed on the disabled list Sunday with lower back tightness and will not make his scheduled start Monday (or next weekend).
Frias was replaced on the roster by left-handed reliever Daniel Coulombe for now. The Dodgers have not announced a starter to replace Frias on Monday but Dodgers manager Don Mattingly eliminated some options.
Mattingly said the Dodgers "don't want to" start a reliever like Juan Nicasio and make it a bullpen game. Minor-league starters on the 40-man roster Joe Wieland and Zach Lee are just coming back from injuries.
