Alongside Ohtani, first baseman Freddie Freeman and outfielders Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernández received votes for the 2024 NL MVP.

Betts, who earned 24 points, was in the running for the NL MVP at the beginning of the season. However, he was struck by a fastball that sidelined him with a fractured hand for two months.
