The Dodgers will likely begin the regular season Monday with 10 players on the disabled list: Alex Guerrero, Howie Kendrick, Andre Ethier, Brett Anderson, Brandon McCarthy, Brandon Beachy, Mike Bolsinger, Frankie Montas, Josh Ravin and Hyun-Jin Ryu. Together the group will be paid more than $70 million this year.
Their injuries were as cruel as they were random: a rib resection surgery here, a car accident there, foul tips and bad slides and bulging disks. It made for a long spring training full of deep breaths, heavy sighs, and reassurances from Andrew Friedman and Dave Roberts about the Dodgers’ mighty depth.
