MIAMI -- Left-hander Paco Rodriguez didn't allow a run in four innings on a minor-league injury-rehabilitation assignment.
But he was pitching with bone spurs in his elbow and will now have surgery to remove the loose bodies. The Dodgers announced the decision after Rodriguez met with Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Friday.
The surgery will sideline Rodriguez for eight to 10 weeks.
Rodriguez, 24, made 18 appearances for the Dodgers this season, allowing three runs on 10 hits in 10 1/3 innings. But the problems in his elbow led to a decrease in velocity and Rodriguez was placed on the DL on May 30.
