Santana gets off to hot start in winter ball

As the leaves begin to turn color, we are now seeing more off-season leagues begin play. Today we look at the start of one league and the prospects from the Dodgers who are playing there.

Infielder Cristian Santana began play this week for Estrellas de Oriente in the Liga de Beisbol Dominicano in the Dominican Republic. That is the highest professional winter league in the Dominican Republic.

Estrellas de Oriente has played only three games so far and Santana is 4-for-6 with a double and a walk.

Santana was the California League co-leader in home runs and he led the league with 109 runs batted in.
