Kershaw was given a breather after starting the final game before the All-Star break, a complete-game win over the Royals. With the break, Kershaw had nine days off before Tuesday's start.
"His next start is on turn, and we'll see how the schedule lines up after that," Roberts said. "At some point in time we will give him an extra day."
With Kershaw and Kenta Maeda pitching in Chicago, the Dodgers will start Brandon McCarthy, Alex Wood, Rich Hill and Kershaw against the Braves.
Ryu, injured by a line drive on June 28 in Anaheim, will throw a four-inning simulated game on Wednesday as a final tune-up, and will not make a Minor League rehab appearance.
