The Los Angeles Dodgers were heavily involved in this year’s Rule 5 Draft, though primarily for the number of prospects they had selected by other organizations.
The Dodgers passed on making a pick during the Major League portion and later selected Ryan January from the Arizona Diamondbacks, and Roimer Bolivar from the Tampa Bay Rays. L.A. saw Brett de Geus (Texas Rangers) and Jordan Sheffield (Colorado Rockies) taken during the MLB phase of the Rule 5 Draft, and six others in the ensuing rounds.
January shared his excitement with joining the Dodgers in a social media post to Twitter, during which he also expressed gratitude for the Diamondbacks organization:
“The amazing journey continues as I was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Rule 5 Draft.
